About Anne

Anne Cleves Symmes is a designer and horticulturist with a special interest in historic landscapes and native plant communities.  She offers garden and floral design services and consulting for both private and public landscapes.

For more than two decades she worked with the Beatrix Farrand Garden Association serving as horticulturist, executive director and garden educator. While at the BFGA, Anne was charged with the re-design, installation and meticulous maintenance of Farrand’s landmark 1912 flower borders at the Bellefield Estate in Hyde Park, NY. She also co-produced and appeared in the PBS documentary film Beatrix Farrand’s American Landscapes featuring public garden designer Lynden B. Miller. She lives on a small farm in the Hudson Valley and specializes in perennial borders, ornamental productive gardens and native plantings.
